Frequently asked questions

Everything we get asked about domains, DNS, webmail, the email API, deliverability, and what happens when your team grows. Can't find an answer? Visit our contact page or email hello@oqumail.com.

Getting started

Pricing, domains, and what you need before signup.

Is OquMail really free?

Yes. Every workspace includes up to 15 mailboxes, 3 domains and 5 GB of shared storage at no cost — enough for most small businesses to run all of their email. You only need a domain you already own.

  • ·No credit card required to sign up
  • ·No trial timer that deletes your mailboxes
  • ·Transactional API included — not a paid add-on
  • ·Paid tiers coming later for teams that outgrow limits — upgrade in place
Do I need to move my domain or change nameservers?

No. Your domain stays exactly where it is. You only add a few DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) at your current DNS provider, and OquMail guides you through each one with copy-paste values.

  • ·Registration stays at your current registrar
  • ·Only DNS records change — not ownership
  • ·Works with Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, Route 53, and more
  • ·See our blog for provider-specific walkthroughs
Can I use more than one domain?

Yes. The free plan includes up to three custom domains in one workspace — useful for multiple brands, regional sites, or a separate marketing domain.

  • ·Each domain gets its own MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records
  • ·Mailboxes are tied to one primary sending domain per address
  • ·Verify each domain independently in the admin panel

Using OquMail

Webmail, clients, API, and day-to-day workflows.

Can I use Outlook, Thunderbird or the Gmail app?

OquMail is webmail-first: your team reads and sends mail in the OquMail web app on any device. IMAP, POP3 and SMTP for external clients are not currently supported. Programmatic sending is available through the email API.

  • ·Any modern browser on desktop, tablet, or phone
  • ·No desktop install or profile configuration
  • ·API covers programmatic outbound mail
  • ·IMAP may come in a future release based on demand
How does the email API work?

Each mailbox can create API keys. You send mail with a single HTTPS request, and every message appears in your dashboard with full delivery logs. Keys can be configured as no-reply so recipients cannot respond.

  • ·POST JSON to the emails endpoint with your API key
  • ·Set fromName and reply-to behavior per message
  • ·View SMTP responses in delivery logs when something fails
  • ·Revoke compromised keys without touching DNS
Can I migrate email from Google Workspace or another host?

You can switch DNS to OquMail and create matching mailboxes at your domain. OquMail is webmail-first — plan to export important mail from your old provider before changing MX records, or run a gradual migration with split inboxes during transition.

  • ·Export mail via your old provider's tools where available
  • ·Lower DNS TTL before MX cutover
  • ·Create mailboxes in OquMail before flipping MX
  • ·See our migration guide on the blog for a full checklist

Deliverability & growth

Inbox placement, security, and scaling past the free plan.

Will my email land in spam?

OquMail configures SPF, DKIM signing and DMARC for every verified domain — the authentication standards inbox providers require. Deliverability also depends on sending reputation, which builds as you send legitimate mail.

  • ·Verify all DNS records before bulk sending
  • ·Warm up new domains gradually — start with transactional mail
  • ·Never buy email lists or blast cold outreach from your primary domain
  • ·Monitor the deliverability dashboard for bounce spikes
What happens when my business grows past the free limits?

Your mail keeps working. Paid plans with higher mailbox counts, more storage and higher sending limits are on the way; existing workspaces will be able to upgrade in place without migrating anything.

  • ·No forced migration to another provider
  • ·Same domains, mailboxes, and DNS configuration
  • ·We will announce pricing before any paid tier launches
  • ·Early workspaces will get clear upgrade paths
How is my email secured?

Mail is encrypted in transit via TLS between clients and our servers. We enforce authentication on every send, support role-based admin access, and let you revoke API keys and suspend accounts instantly.

  • ·TLS for webmail and API connections
  • ·SPF, DKIM, and DMARC protect your domain from spoofing
  • ·Per-mailbox API keys instead of shared SMTP passwords
  • ·Admin roles limit who can manage domains and users
What support is available?

Documentation lives on this site and in our blog — setup guides for every major DNS provider. For account issues, reach hello@oqumail.com. We are a small team building in public and respond as quickly as we can.

  • ·60+ articles on setup, DNS, deliverability, and comparisons
  • ·In-app DNS verification with specific error hints
  • ·Email support for billing and access issues
